67 Songs That Powered Me Through Half-Marathon Training
I share my private running training playlist.
By the time you read this, I’ll be a few days out from running my first half-marathon.
When I told friends and family I was participating in a race this year, the first question I got was the same: “Why?” Why would you put your body through that?
At the risk of sounding flip, my response was just as simple: “Why not?” Why not put the work in for an undertaking that, when I began training, I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off. Often, it’s the challenge that fuels my interest and focus in a project. Without a deadline and some probability of failure, it’s less exciting for me.
I’m not a professional athlete, but I’m satisfied with my result (finished in just under two hours). Turns out that the more you push yourself out of your comfort zone, the quicker you’ll see tangible results (that formula applies to writing, too, by the way).
Thankfully, I completed the race without any of my joints, limbs, or vital organs giving out while I was running. Of course, because I’m obsessed with curating the right songs for the right moment, I had my half-marathon training playlist with me every step of the way up until race day.
If you’re looking for a new workout playlist that blends the current with the classics, or maybe you’re down with some good house music vibes to get you through the day, I thought I’d share my private running playlist in full with you.
Access it via Apple Music or Spotify. The latter is embedded below.
Also, if you’re not down with Spotify’s corporate direction and would rather transfer this playlist to another streaming service, use Tune My Music and follow the simple prompts to get that done.
Already counting down to next year’s race. ⏳
Congratulations
