Thanks Jon! Before I segmented the larger list into decades and decided on the format, it was one of the first I earmarked as worthy of writing about. Glad it resonated. :)
There's a music video that I have searched for, with no luck. I can't remember the artist. It came out somewhere around 1992 to 1995. It was set in an apartment building, with the camera zooming through walls and floors, showing vignettes of the lives of the building's tenants. The rooms turned and flipped, kind of like a Rubik's cube.
I had never seen that Jamiroquai video before! Most visual innovation was happening in music videos back then. Movies seemed to pilfer from the music video filmmakers. And Sabotage, Da Funk and Praise You are 3 of my favorites too. Really, all the Beastie Boys vids.
Thanks for reading J.D.! NIN came close to cracking the 90s section of my list. I’m sure I will add an addendum to it and share more great videos from that era down the line. Cheers :)
Quality piece with the right video selection. I love the Smashing Pumpkins choice. Brilliant piece.

It’s such a great piece and it shows a nice depth of music. I can see why you’d segment it too.
That video for "Just" is so great. I hadn't watched that in years, so I'm grateful for the refresher.
Solid picks here! All really terrific.
Thanks Matt! “Just” is one of those videos that’s stuck in my memory since the moment I saw it.
Great list Matt! I’ve always loved the video for Daft Punk’s “Around the World” but Da Funk is a great choice.
The choreography in Around the World is sublime: https://youtu.be/K0HSD_i2DvA?si=h_LRZ5NsGP6SJWl1
Thanks Mark! "Around the World" was a close second for that pick.

Does anyone remember this?
I'm curious too, I've never heard of this!
Great list! The video for "Da Funk" is an absolute classic.
Yessir! Thanks for reading :)
Excellent list! Now off to watch them all again…
Wooooooooooo
Great list of videos!
Thanks Dan!

Thanks Steve! Agreed RE: the Beasties, they're one of the music video GOATs, regardless of era.
