The slower, blues version of ‘Born in the USA’ is the one I prefer. It wouldn’t work well live though - or, at least, it would be a different moment in the set.
Great piece - for the reasons you state, I was one of many who misguidedly thought "not for me" when I heard the title track. Luckily, I saw the light - Bobby Jean has to be the best song ever written about friendship
