Brilliant piece on Control's impact. The TR-808 groove thing is underrated in music history conversations. Most people credit it for hip hop but that beefy texture Jam & Lewis got laid the groundwork for so many pop productions that came after. Heard those same drum patterns everywhere in the late 80s once this album proved it could dominate both R&B and pop charts simulatneously.
