Hounds of Love is such an outlier, that it almost seems unfair to the rest of her discography. That said, The Sensual World is incredible, and I think one can definitely make a strong case for slotting it in at the top.
I don't have a title in mind for “best record that came out after Pet Sounds that you should definitely listen to,” but if all you know of Bush is Hounds of Love, your next stop should be The Sensual World.
The Kick Inside, is the only album I still listen to, a groundbreaking masterpiece, there's a rawness and clarity to the songs, that is gone in her later work . I also love the 5tk live EP, that came from this : https://youtu.be/ya665vLYRHk?si=c5Lkwl6aB2Lz0_Ga
Truly excellent, well researched piece. I’m bookmarking it for future reference. 50 Words for Snow was possibly my most played album of 2011. I haven’t played it in a couple of years and this is a great reminder to do so pronto.
I call myself a massive Kate Bush fan and find a song I love at least every couple of years but only have listened in entirety to Kick Inside and not much else. My Dad had it on vinyl. So I just appreciate the effort you made to provide a map of where to start, it's a treasure trove of musical brilliance. What a bloody legend. Thank you.
Kick Inside and The Lion's Heart are my favourite. Mysically most honest: mostly piano and voice, maybe a bit naive lyrics, but quite a complex harmony.
Well, shoot. The Kick Inside and The Dreaming would be 2 and 3, for sure. 50 Words for Snow would be last, but you have absolutely reminded me to give it some more spins!

Thanks Steve! Means a lot. 🙏
Let's not beat around the Bush...
Out of those 10 Albums I've only hear 'chuffin' up that hill'...and only cause it was a commercial hit and played to death on the rah-dee-ohh...
Strange that my life doesn't feel like it's missed out on anything important...
How Katetestrophic...

OK, after that glowing recommendation about Hounds Of Love, yer on. Will report back later.
Bloody hell, you're right! How could I have been missing out on this damn fine record for forty years? Ta for the heads-up.
Great
This is sooo different from what my list would be! Love it. It’s almost time for 50 Words…
What would yours be?
