I love this record. Bryan Adams doesn’t get enough love in some intellectual circles, but the guy is awesome. So many killer songs on this album.

Never realized all these fantastic songs were on one album! I loved your anecdote of your head up against the boombox and can totally relate. The ability of music to immediately take me back to a place and time is such a joy.

Absolutely—thanks Mark! Do you have a specific band or artist that falls into that category?

Ahh there are so many! My love of music is lifelong and there are so so many flashbulb moments connected with music. From “falling in love” at a high school dance (‘Crazy for You” by Madonna) to having my year 14-year old heart broken (“Forever” by Kenny Loggins) to memories of a great friend (and sometimes girlfriend) who died in a motorcycle accident in India (“Forever Young” by Alphaville) or the song that described my falling in love (true love this time) with my then girlfriend now wife (“Gorecki” by Lamb).

From the most mundane to the most impactful moments, my entire life has been defined by music.

My plan for the new year, once my Alphabet Soup series is complete, is to begin writing essays that discuss these songs and the impact they had on my life at the time.

Good album. My favorite has always been "Run to You." Such an intense song with some provocative lyrics. Always love anything with Tina too!

Sun-soaked melancholy... those 2 stand out Reckless songs stand up to the test of time. Summer of 69 I was 11 too young for Woodstock but one-year later played with Wilson Pickett and Bobby Hebb at Clyde Otis's in Englewood, NJ. Tina Turner made that day special. We played Sunny then Proud Mary, her way, and those dudes were stoked to jam with the little white kids. No Time was one of Blue Fog's staples. I inherited a treasure trove of Felix Leclerc from my father-in-law. Arcade Fire kept things going. Old, new, what can't Canadians do? Being Erica was one of the best TV shows ever made. Great article 👏
