"So" is a legacy album for me in that I remember exactly where and when it was released (working in Q Records and Tapes in Miami just as the CD revolution was getting started-in fact, it may be the first album I bought on CD). "In Your Eyes" and "Sledgehammer" were everywhere but it was "Don't Give Up" and Mercy Street" that really captivated me. As a long-time devotee of ROIOs, one of my prize recordings is the June 28, 1987, performance of "Don't Give Up" with Kate Bush at London's Earls Court. If only time travel were possible!

"Sledgehammer" is still my favorite but that whole album is great!

Wow, there’s a lot to unpack here starting with the players. Manu Katche on drums; love his music, never knew he was on the album. Tony Levin on bass. Can’t miss him, he kinda looks like Snidley Whiplash without the top hat and hair. Loved him in the trio, Bozzio, Levin and Stevens.

Then there’s Peter trying to do his best David Byrne dancing impression on the live version of In Your Eyes. Brings a smile to my face because it’s really true, white men can’t dance :)

And finally Peter Gabriel has one of the most unique and distinctive voices of that era. Another innovative and talented artist that I’m going to have to revisit, it’s been a very long time. Man, we were young back then!

It's a tie between Digging In The Dirt and the New Blood Orchestra version of In Your Eyes.

Truly, I have listened to Secret World Live that I have the nuances mostly memorized. Thanks for including the video to end this post.

He’s done practically nothing since then.
