I thought it was brilliant how they introduced Trugoy after they all took roll call on the first track of the new De La. Nice to see Barry Can’t Swim on a list too!

Almost word for word the comment I was going to leave. So glad to see Barry Can’t Swim. And what a perfect send off for Trugoy the Dove.

As a Geese fan since Projector, it’s been fun to see them blow up and show up on so many year end lists. Considering your fine and eclectic list, I was expecting to see Water From Your Eyes get a mention - It’s a Beautiful Place is addictive!

Thanks Jeremy! It was in the running for sure, but I decided not to create a longer list this year. Writing two discography ranking posts at the same time influenced that decision, too :P

Possible hot take: “Cabin in the Sky” is the best record DeLa Soul has ever made. Only reason it’s not in my top 20 is recency bias. I’d only heard it twice at that point.

Nourished by Time has been a revelation, and I’m happy to see it popping up on people’s lists!

Thanks for chiming in! I’m curious to know why you think it’s DLS’s best ever?

Am I too old to cite “vibes” as a reason?

Seriously, the overall feel really landed with me. The sonic atmosphere they created, the production, even Giancarlo Espositio’s interstitial commentary (usually I don’t like that sort of thing).

Great list! Will give some of those a listen, already got De La Soul on repeat. Shouts to Black British Music by Jim Legxacy, Sad by Ikonika and Service Station at the End of the Universe by Antony Szmierek.

Love seeing aya on here! Hexed is high on my list (publishing next week) and i feel like there’s a huge gulf between its critical acclaim and the number of people who actually listen to it

I also saw The Weeknd live this year and it boosted my appreciation for Hurry Up Tomorrow even more. What a showman
