Any Miles is good Miles for me.

Tutu was my ‘gateway’, smoother than the punk/funk I was listening to but it had a Scritti track so….After going deeper I can’t say it’s my favourite Miles but it’s one I love coming back to.

Thanks Paul! You could do a lot worse with a Miles gateway.

Time after Time is my fav 1980’s Miles! It has everything and takes chances. I guess like Someday My Prince and Trane w Chim Chim there is some comfort in the outside covering the inside. Did Art Ensemble of Chicago ever cover Mission Inpossible? Lol

Thanks David! Herbie and Chick Corea did a lovely cover of “Someday My Prince Will Come” on a live album together.

I liked this record more than I thought I would but not quite as much as Decoy. I'd love to have heard what it would have sounded like had they re recorded Marcus Miller's demos as originally planned, I didn't know that was part of what was originally intended.

If some young trumpet player had released this album I think it would have been better received than it was, but because it was Miles with the history he had, it hit different.

All good points, especially regarding the demo tapes vs. re-recorded instrumentals. Thanks for reading!

Ill be passing this one around! A fellow Repique drummer in OXENTEDRUM.ORG told me he's a 70's Miles fan. I'm working on digesting my 4 vinyls from the end of the Prestige deal, relaxing, cooking, and the one I've owned the longest: Steamin' But bc of you I re-bought Bitches Brew and enjoy breaking the tonal hold 'trane, Garland, Jones, Chambers have on me.

The epic modal opus Kind of Blue is the touchstone for a reason. I keep it close.

All Hail Marcus Miller! 🙌
