It’s already that time of year!
Last fall, I asked you, the readers, to vote on which artists I’d cover in my 2025 slate of studio discography deep dives. If you’re new here, it’s exactly what it sounds like. I go through and rank every single studio album released to this point in a person or group’s career. Check out all the discography rankings you may have missed to see who’s been covered so far.
In 2025, my chosen theme was Women in Music. Here were your five artist selections, complete with a status update on each:
Kate Bush (published)
Aretha Franklin (in progress, will for sure be the longest piece I’ve ever written for this newsletter)
Björk (in progress, aiming to publish in Dec. 2025)
And now, it’s time for you to choose the Top 5 for next year’s discography ranking slate.
My 2026 theme is: History’s Most Influential Rock Bands. Notice that says “most influential,” not “best” or “most popular,” though I’m sure there will be some overlap.
Pick the three artists you’d like to see me do a full discography deep dive on from the options in the online survey. The five most popular choices will get the spotlight treatment in this very newsletter next year.
Thanks for lending your voice to this content!
Any suggestions for influential groups that didn’t make the survey list? Make sure to add them with the “Other” option or shout them out in the comments.
Really looking forward to your Aretha review when ready! Just submitted my vote 😊
Oh damn, that’s challenging.
I mean, The Beatles can’t be denied, surely. Neither can Bowie. Hendrix. Elvis.
Don’t make me choose!
