Your Picks for the 2026 Discography Deep Dive Artists
Did your favorite make the cut?
You voted. I listened.
In one case, I rolled my eyes a little (I’ll let you guess which artist drew that reaction), but I listened. And, after a month-long voting cycle and a last-minute entry into the Top 5 on the last day of voting (!), I’m sharing which five bands you picked to get the discography ranking treatment in 2026.
Next year’s theme is History’s Most Influential Rock Bands. I sent subscribers a handy starter pack of ideas, but my oh my, did you shout out your favorites in the “Other” field. Some fantastic names were shared, so thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their votes.
Before I get into your picks, a reminder to catch up on this year’s discography rankings you may have missed, celebrating some of the most accomplished female artists in music:
Kate Bush (Read the full ranking)
Aretha Franklin (coming soon)
Björk (coming soon)
And now, in ascending order of overall vote share, here are the bands that will get their studio discographies ranked in 2026:
5. The Who
4. Queen
3. The Beatles
2. Pink Floyd
1. Led Zeppelin
Which discography ranking are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments.

Reading your take on The Who’s varied and yet short discography will be a treat, Matt. ‘Who Are You’ is the subject of my next post - an incomplete look at the new boxed set.
I might - might - write a series on Genesis next year. A little relieved to see they didn’t make the cut for you!
Most excited for The Beatles but also looking forward to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin
